This is your moment
On any given day, with responsibilities ahead, I stopped and decided to study, but everything becomes more interesting. My phone, instagram, the fly that is in the curtain, I think my room is messy, ugh, I need to clean this room! A thousand ideas came, except the study and concentration I needed ... time goes by and I'm still on my phone watching instagram, making unnecessary calls, looking at the clock and the hour was going. I hoped that motivation would come, but it didn't happen, I just felt guilty and tiredness for not doing what I should.
What was happening to me? Do I have a problem? Is this normal If I knew I had things to do, why did I waste my time?
But no, the above has a name and no, it is not just laziness, it is a real thing called procrastinate. I procrastinate, you procrastinate, apparently we always procrastinate. Regrettably
Now how does our brain work when we want to do something?
In our brain there are two hemispheres, which see these actions and fight them in different ways, on the left side our rational part dominates, that is, the part that tells us "organize", "do the task", "stop seeing myour phone","Stop watching Netflix" or any responsibility that lies ahead, this part will guide us through the organization and the time it takes. In the right hemisphere the emotional part dominates, the part that wants instant gratification, wants to do things that make us happy in the moment.
Most of the time we let the emotional part of our brain command us, leaving aside our rational hemisphere to have this instant satisfaction, which is fine if there is no close responsibility that can torment our moments of relaxation, for This reason when our emotional part commands and chooses our decisions, the satisfaction we seek is filled with bad emotions, whether guilt or anxiety.
And now, how can we stop this?
In these situations, our responsibilities have a due date, so we begin to rationally manage our time when this date approaches and panic works, when it appears in our system we unfortunately begin to work with less time, more pressure and anguish. Taking off our time to rest, to share with friends or family and more likely to fail and feel bad about ourselves.
Hasn't it happened that when it comes to eating or having dinner you are with your notebooks next to you? This happens because panic makes us work, rush us to get the work done on the date indicated.
Although this is not all, in these cases, the panic makes us choose rational decisions, but what happens when our goals do not have a delivery date?
Have you proposed a goal at the beginning of the year? It can be learning a language, having a healthier life, among a thousand other things. These at the beginning do not have an end date, therefore, fear does not appear in our system and we continue to postpone our goals, we let the emotional side continue to dominate us, without even trying to pursue our dreams and the proposals that arise in our life.
These issues do not have time until you begin to work for it, at the beginning of this year I wanted to do new things, so many ideas and thoughts that kept me awake until late at night, unfortunately, the next day they vanished (typical promise at night ) .... "Is that a Simpsons marathon? I should start tomorrow", and that's how long I kept putting off my ideas without even realizing it. We know that in life we have two dates that we cannot control; our birth and our death, but the time between these two dates is ours, we can handle it in our way, because that time will not be returned to us, are we ussing it correctly? If you think about yesterday, are you satisfied with your activities? If you are not, if you felt identified with my story, what are you waiting for to change that and start your dreams? . Today I have accomplished more goals, starting small, just leaving aside this instant satisfaction and working for what I want. This is your moment, where you can manage the minutes, hours, weeks you have, you can manage them your way and start.
